solidarity amongst workers and classes necessitates solidarity with people you fundamentally disagree with. do I as a trans person particularly want to interact in any capacity with my transphobic coworkers? absolutely not. but in order to establish a strong union I know that I need their support because ultimately we are on the same side here. you need to be able to find common ground or your union will fail. this applies to solidarity with unions you do not belong to like SAG-AFTRA and WGA

Wondering if my emotional response to this type of thing is actually common or not: let’s say someone believes something outrageously incorrect in defiance of demonstrable facts, like the flat earth or the fake moon landing or they think humans lived alongside dinosaurs and would vehemently argue about it if it came up, but otherwise they don’t push it or hurt anyone or use it to justify any bigotry or anything
This is about just that wildly incorrect but willful belief in a total bubble, to clarify further. Don’t think about connections to conspiracy culture, imagine even it’s a scenario where nothing else is wrong in the whole world or that’s the only person who will ever think these things, maybe even that they think it in secret and keep it to themselves forever.
Okay what I’m gathering is that I am not normal about this topic because my reaction to that type of thing is kind of a disgust more intense than option 4 and it has nothing to do with their belief having any kind of consequences. The simple fact that they think other people are incorrect, when in fact other people are correct, is in itself enough to make me wish a wrathful god would smite them or something.
